I am a professional geologist, geochemist, and contaminated land practitioner with a thirty-year career in industry, most recently working as a Principal Consultant for ERM. Prior to re-joining the University of Strathclyde, I worked on contaminated land projects in Alaska, primarily in Arctic communities. I also worked on a large copper mine project, collecting hydrological data at the proposed mine site and interpreting geochemical data from surface and groundwater samples.

My research interests are centered on the characterization of canal sediments with a view to evaluating the beneficial reuse of dredged canal sediments. I am a part of the Interreg SURICATES project which aims to increase sediment reuse for erosion and flood protection through large-scale solutions for sediment reuse in NW Europe.
