Personal Statement

Spyridon Karamitsos was born in Larisa, Greece in 1986. He received his M.Eng. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece, in 2011 and his M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering for Sustainable and Renewable Energy from the University of Nottingham (UoN), UK, in 2013. He joined HVDC TECH in 2014 as power systems engineer - simulations specialist,  working intensively on control algorithms and advanced level simulations of power systems and grid planning aspects using DigSilent/PowerFactory, PSCAD/EMTDC and MATLAB/Simulink. Since 2015 he is pursuing an Industrial Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Strathclyde in cooperation with HVDC TECH. He has conducted several research studies and co-authored scientific papers on power systems applications.
