Abstract
Two-dimensional wavelength-hopping time-spreading (2D-WH/TS) codes have been used by number of research groups around the world in their research. Good understanding of 2D-WH/TS codes if they would be based on picosecond multi-color pulses is therefore very important. In this paper we report results of our extensive investigation which has been focused on such codes performance when they were implemented in an OCDMA testbed connecting University of Strathclyde with Glasgow University and running at the data rate of OC-48 (2.5Gb/s). We will show that to maintain desired BER very accurate dispersion management of the transmission link must be maintained at all times. If this requirement is even slightly violated a high penalty in the form of strong BER deterioration will be inflicted.
