Abstract
We present a purely magneto-optical solution to the in-fibre point sensing of magnetic field strength that utilizes compound phase-shifted fibre Bragg gratings with low linear birefringence. This paper describes how such gratings can form multiplexable polarimetric transducers that reveal tailored spectral features only when magnetized. Through simulation we identify the optimal grating structure in terms of a ratio of subsection lengths and illustrate the resulting sensor response.
