Abstract
The study upon which this article is based was concerned with the availability and business use of telecommunications infrastructure and services in a specific locality in Scotland's Central Region. The research was also designed to identify and evaluate sources of advice to business users and, in particular, to highlight significant gaps in awareness about telecommunications amongst both the advisory and business user communities. As such this paper takes forward in a detailed way the
evidence and argument which we set out in a previous paper in Quarterly Economic
Commentary [Taylor et al, 1993].
