Abstract

As in the UK as a whole, the Scottish economy is currently growing much more rapidly than at any time since 1973. However, as yet, the expansion has not made a significant impact on the level of unemployment, though some small decline, to a seasonally adjusted level of 160,000 can be expected by March 1979. Thereafter, as with the rest of the UK, the outlook is less predictable because of uncertainties over levels of wage and price inflation. Detailed analyses of the latest Scottish production, unemployment, and investment data are provided.
